We invite the members of the COST Action CA21101 (“COSY”), as well as all interested parties, to join the working group 1 (WG1) and 5 (WG5) one-day symposium in the CSIC Central Campus, Madrid on the 30th of April 2026. Working group 1 (leader Piotr Zuchowski) covers fundamental studies of molecular interactions: new methods, benchmarks on confined systems. Working group 5 (leader Lauri Halonen) covers computational, theoretical, and experimental investigation of the formation of molecules and matter in the interstellar medium and in planetary and solar atmospheres. The aim is to continue the close collaboration between these working groups, i.e., theoretical and computational expertise in WG1 and experimental and theoretical spectroscopic knowledge in WG5. On the theory side, we are interested in molecular scattering, perturbation theory, variational and discrete variable methods, and electronic structure calculations. The applications concentrate particularly on astrochemistry, i.e., on spectroscopy and chemical reactions in the gas phase and on surfaces of particles in the interstellar medium and in the atmospheres of exoplanets, and near very hot environments. New experimental, theoretical, and computational methods are also key aspects of our scientific interest.
